Knights of St Columba

The national Order of the Knights of St Columba serves the Catholic Church, its communities, families and young people in general through national projects. In the last ten years these have included the ‘Wells for Water campaign, “Help the Samaritans” , “Help the Hospices’”, “Vision Aid Overseas” and Marys Meals. The National Action project changes every 1-2 years.

Locally, the Knights undertake various activities to provide support the Community at large and the Church. This ranges from providing financial support for ‘good causes’ to sponsoring sporting activities for youth. Knights (and their ladies!) give their time and energy to enhance the spiritual well-being of the local community:- distributing posters; erecting Christmas cribs in prominent places; providing guards of honour at shrines or for visiting relics; arranging pilgrimages; organising seminars on social teaching and vocation exhibitions; running charitable events and adopting a moral stance on life issues.

For those less fortunate in society, such as the disabled, those with learning difficulties, special needs and the homeless, the KSC gives support by providing help with transport and travel, accommodation, running ‘soup kitchens’, parties for the elderly, or simply offering advice to those in need.
