First Communion & Reconciliation – Classes
The Saturday classes are for children wishing to make their First Holy Communion at St Augustine’s. They are aimed at children in Yrs 3-5 (i.e. aged 8 – 10). The classses met fortnightly, on Saturday afternoons, 1230-1330, taught by Fr Jonathan. The First Communion Mass in 2026 was on 16th May
Anyone wishing to register a child for the 2027 First Holy Communion programme needed to omplete one of the booking forms available in the porch and return it by 13th September. In other words it is now too late to book a child on next year’s course. .
WANTED: Anyone to assist as catechists with the First Communion Group. You do not need to have any experience of this work, but suitable preparation will be offered. Please speak to Fr Jonathan if you might be interested.
Confirmation
The Confirmation programme is for baptised young Catholics aged 13-14 (years 7 & 8) who have made their First Communion, though older participants are welcome. (Adults wishing to be confirmed, speak to Fr Jonathan.) The classes are usually held in the Upper Room 3-4pm on Saturdays, and the Confirmation ceremony was on 6th June in 2026. (For the first time we offered a parallel course for parents, using the Sycamore videos, meeting in the Presybtery after the dropping-off of sons/daughters upstairs. )
Details of the 2027 programme will be announced in the near future. Booking forms are already on the tables and need to be returned by 29th November.
