Eucharistic Ministers wanted.
We would like to restore in full the pre-Covid practice of distributing the Precious Blood of Jesus from the chalice at Communion on Sundays at St Augustine’s. (This usually now happens fortnightly at the 11am Mass, but more Ministers are needed to cover the 9 and the 6. ) For this we need at least two Extraordinary Ministers at each Mass, (only one if the Deacon is present) and preferably more on a rota so that no-one has to serve every weekend. The only “qualifications” are being a baptised and confirmed Catholic, and living in accordance with the marriage laws of the Church. Young confirmed people are particularly welcome to volunteer. There is no other bar of “worthiness” you have to meet. All necessary practical training will be given. If you are usually at one of the weekend Masses, please consider offering yourself for this sacred and important role, by speaking to one of the priests or Deacon Brin.
Just a reminder that no Communicant is obliged to receive the Precious Blood – the Lord is entirely present to you if you receive the Body alone – but receiving Communion “under both kinds” is a fuller sign of Eucharistic participation, following the example of Our Lord at the last Supper.
