May Fayre

The May Fayre is one of the major social and fundraising events in the parish calendar. It has also become a significant event in the town. It takes place each year on the first Monday Bank Holiday in May (in 2019, it was on 6th May , and although we did not have last year's glorious sunshine, it stayed dry) on the Rye to the east of the town. It has many stalls, from the ever popular book-stall to gardening/plants, bric a brac, tombola, hot and cold food and games. Demonstrations, music, dance and fancy dress for the children make it a wonderful day for everyone. The raffle draw takes place at the end of the day.

The day takes a huge amount of organisation over many months and all help is gratefully received. On the day, the setting up of stalls, tents, BBQ and food arrangements needs an army of helpers and the dismantling and removing at the end of the day is no less demanding. However, it is also one of the most enjoyable events to be part of.

The event is led each year by a chairman, supported by a wide ranging group of volunteers many of whom have been involved for several years. If you are new to the parish this is an excellent opportunity to become involved in the church. If you are not new to the parish it is still a good opportunity to help.
